Advisory
Currently available
I'm open to a small number of advisory engagements with the right founders at the right stage. Get in touch.
I worked with a small number of founders and early-stage teams, as an advisor, a fractional technical partner, or somewhere in between. The advice came from someone actively in the fire, not looking back at it.
I've been the first engineering hire more than once. I know what it's like to have no playbook, a product that needs to exist before you can sell it, and the pressure of building a team while the product isn't done yet.
When this is useful
You're a founder or co-founder at the early stage: pre-product, early product, or scaling for the first time. The technical decisions feel too big to get wrong and too fast to slow down on. You need someone who's been here, can think alongside you, and will tell you what they actually think.
What we'd work on
- Strategy: what to build, what to ignore, what order to do things in
- Technical leadership: CTO-track thinking before or instead of a full-time hire
- Hiring: who to bring in, when, and how to avoid the early mis-hires that cost months
- Problem triage: separating what's actually blocking you from what just feels like it is
What I'm not
A generalist consultant who works with anyone. I worked with a small number of people at a time, on problems that were interesting and where the timing was right.
What people say
"Jordan is an excellent tech lead, software engineer and all round great person to have on your team. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jordan and hope to again in the future."
"Jordan just gets it and that can be very rare, along with being hugely passionate about the end users of products that he is working on or managing. He is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to developing technology and will often think outside of the box to arrive at solutions whilst always being clear and concise in the process. If you ever get a chance to grab a coffee or beer with Jordan, take it."
